So, we’re back in lockdown again.
This time was a bit different for us from the outset because unfortunately we live in the current Covid hot spot, and I was feeling sick on Monday when the outbreak was announced so I had to get tested (negative, thankfully).
The kids are reacting much the same as last time so we’re having a bit of deva vu. Penny has been so happy to isolate and had to be forced out of the house today to go for a drive.
Rory has been asking steadily for drives and to go outside – a few times he’s asked for daycare. He was driving us so nuts to go outside during the blizzard on Thursday that we stuck him in the backyard. He was in his absolutely glee while being whipped in the face by mother nature.
It’s kind of funny – not ha ha funny – but I was feeling myself falling into a depressive episode last week, but now that my anxiety is so high, it kicked me into near anxiety attacks daily so we’re getting a lot done. I deal with anxiety with constant list making, cleaning, and doing things around the house. Which sounds great except for how on edge I am and how quickly I can go from hyper to sobbing to raising my voice. Living with me is a treat. I’m sure Shamus would agree (…please don’t ask him).
Shamus is back to work on Monday nice and early. I’d say if people start ordering things online again he’ll get pretty busy again. My work schedule is up in the air right now which is doing wonders for my anxiety (of course). Rory’s daycare is open (I think?) but I’m trying to not send him out of the house as much as possible if we can help it. I know he loves it, but he also licks everything in sight and is all up in everybody’s business.
Penny is supposed to start online learning soon which could go either way. I’m hoping that since she’s matured a bit in the past year that she might attend to the computer a bit more, but my gut tells me she is just going to try and strangle me in the view of her whole class (which is her way of dealing with anxiety).
I’m having a lot of fun hanging out with the kids. They don’t try my patience too much and they’ve adjusted pretty well considering the circumstances. We have had a few 5 AM wake-ups, but I started drinking coffee over our last lockdown so I learned my lesson there. I also started the kids on Melatonin a few weeks ago anyways so that seems to help with the sleep issues we’ve encountered before with routine changes.
In funny news, Penny discovered a hole in our fireplace that must have served as a place to sweep ashes when it was a functional fireplace. She has been asking for weeks for her “disney yellow book” which I couldn’t find anywhere. Guess what I found halfway down the hole last night? The disney yellow book. She thinks it’s hilarious. Her father and I also think it’s hilarious but have been trying to dissuade her from now putting all of her things down the hole.
I hope everyone is holding up, wherever you are. I won’t tell you to “hold fast” because the next time I hear that I might knock someone out. But do your best. Or do the best you can in whatever situation you’re in. If anyone needs to chat, feel free to reach out to me. I might not be much comfort but I do have some pretty wicked memes.

I am sure this is a super stressful time for you, but hold….oops! Sorry about that slip😉 Enjoyed your post immensely and you do have the best pictures! All the best.
